Join us for a two day finishing workshop at The Wool & The Floss. On Friday, November 13, participants will be learning how to finish an any shape ornament. Then Saturday, November 14, will focus on finishing an flat back tray insert, or flat back acrylic foot standup with hidden foot.
Both sessions are 2.5 hours.

This class series focuses on new techniques beyond basic ornaments. On Friday, you'll learn to finish any special shaped ornament (think beyond a round or rectangle). On Saturday, we'll tackle either an acrylic foot finish or a coaster/tray insert. You’ll learn the acrylic foot pocket technique which hides the acrylic foot inside the finish and lines the interior for a seamless look on both front and the back.
We'll be using a no-glue lacing technique and only acid-free materials, ensuring your needlepoint can be enjoyed for years to come. You'll leave the workshop with beautifully finished pieces and the confidence and materials needed to try it again on your own – plus access to online videos and resources to help you continue your learning journey. We recommend this class for people who have completed a basic needlepoint finishing class, but if a student has no previous finishing experience, we will have beginner options available.
Please note the acrylic product is not included. Bring your desired acrylic foot standup, coaster, or tray to class.
Participants should bring:
• Any Shape Ornament (Friday, November 13): A completed special shaped canvas (any shape beyond a round or rectangle), blocked, and a photocopy of the canvas.
• Acrylic Foot Standup or Tray Insert (Saturday, November 14): Your acrylic coaster or tray, plus one of the following:
For an acrylic foot standup: A completed square or rectangle canvas with bottom edge larger than 3 inches, blocked, and a photocopy of the canvas.
For a coaster or tray insert: A completed square/rectangle or round canvas appropriately sized for your acrylic object. Do not stitch extra rows. Bring a photocopy of the canvas
Optional to bring:
• Desired backing fabric, measured 1 inch wider on all sides (6x6 for 4x4). Recommend a not stretchy material. Thin materials like quilter's cotton, velveteen, or silk work great. We bring a stash of fabric in various colors.
• Two skeins of DMC Floss or DMC Pearle (only if you have a color preference, we bring a stash of Pearle in various colors)
